Il Dispetto
Il Dispetto
"Il Dispetto" was originally produced as a plaster model that was presented by the artist Jean Valette at one of the Paris Salons back in 1868, before the full size marble statue was sculpted and presented at an other Salon for art works. "Il Dispetto" translates to In Spite, however, this can also mean frustrated or annoyed, and the artist, Jean Valette, sculpted the statue to represent a frustrated young musician.
